I had a lonely Sunday. All of my plans fell through, which turned out to be a major disappointment. By late in the evening, I was in a pretty foul mood. I tried to go to sleep early, but instead, finished a novel and watched a bizarre documentary on men who race pigeons in rural Taiwan (it involves a ship!).
I'm jealous of Sun Yatsen's absolutely beautiful calligraphy.
In my (ample) spare time, I write calligraphy. It's kind of fun. It's relaxing, and it's a good way to practice characters. Of course, I tend to write advertising slogans. :-/
I'm in Southern Taiwan (Tainan/Gaoxiong) until Saturday. It's hot!
I spotted this classy gem in the subway today. Such a strange name.. :-(
I love watching how things move. I often stand on the ends of train platforms when I'm in the subway and stand, watching the train come in, the people inside going past very fast, then slower. With each passing second, you can see more details. The reverse is interesting too: the people inside are clearly visible as the doors close, then as the train starts, they move past slowly, then becoming a blur.
If this wasn't something I'd done since I was a child, I'd think I was losing my mind. When I was small, I'd lay on the ground and play with doors, moving them back and forth, just watching how they move.
I live in a night market. It's fascinating and wonderful. I love it. It's full of life, color and gets quiet around 11 p.m. Plus, you can take hand-held night shots. Here, a tea shop.
